Elek Ember
I improvise experimental electronic music with Sig Valax.
Elek Ember is an experimental techno duo based in Paris, made up of Emilie Zawadzki and Sigolène Valax. Through their live A/V performance, their musical approach builds an immersive polyphonic experience, between an energetic musical journey and hypnotic, glitchy visual projections.
Improvising experimental material on analog instruments, drum machines and modular systems, they explore sound worlds ranging from drone oscillations and abstract noise to synth pads and techno rhythms. Electronic beats and organic pulses build a suspended space, where melodies and dissonant frequencies are organised into micro-temporal layers.
Since forming in 2017 they have played in Berlin (Griessmuehle), London (New River Studio) and Paris — La Station Gare des Mines, La Maison des Métallos, Les Instants Chavirés — as well as at IRCAM, the Sonic Drawing festival and Nuit Blanche 2020.
Forest Lab
During a year-long residency at Mains d’Œuvres (2020-2021), the duo developed Forest Lab, a multidisciplinary project on the theme of the forest: music, visuals and digital art installations. It gave rise to the installation Oghamber, shown from 18 to 28 September 2021.
